About the christian family

As I said yesterday, I will try to post more about daily life stuff. When I was approached by these people from the Christian religion I talked about int he last post, I was a bit scared, because by stating your religion as soon as you first meet someone you’re establishing a difference between the 2 of you and bringing up a subject that is likely to make the other person feel uncomfortable. If I were…

The other face of religion

Spending some time in Taiwan has really changed my view on many many topics like society, politics, religion, etc Religion here is some mixture of Taoism and Bushism with many gods and temples everywhere, and something like 90% of Taiwanese people believes in some kind of something. I had the chance to visit many of this temples and seeing people’s faces while they pray usually makes me smile, not in a condescending way, but in a pure…

About the dalai lama

Friend: What do you think about the dalai lama? Bruno: Very compassionate person, we should all learn from him. Friend: And what do you think about the fact that he’s the spiritual leader of the buddhist religion. Bruno: Well, Buddhism is supposed to be the more peaceful religion, so I guess it’s a great thing he’s the leader. Friend: Actually the reason why it’s said that Buddhism is a peaceful religion is that they compare…

Many of my friends belong to that thing. Friend: But you think they could use some help, right? Bruno: No, they are just trying to prove their point, I respect that. Friend: They try to prove they are retarded. Bruno: No, they want to prove…

About the afterlife

A long time ago, our ancestors were having a hard time understanding the concept of death, and they couldn’t believe this was it, there had to be something else. So they made up some pretty amazing stories which, whatever your personal opinion is on this subject, you have to admit, were amazingly creative and intricate. Like the famous Valhalla from the vikings, the Japanese that believed we take some stairs somewhere, the Aztecs that believe we go to…

Muslims, you’re doing it right :)

I started Korean and taekwondo lessons went on many outings this last few weeks and met some new friends. Enjoyed a freedom few people can enjoy. Not freedom like spending all night showing your private parts in chatroulette,  but the freedom of being able to do anything you want or doing nothing at all. Without having to fulfill other people’s expectations, without worrying about the future and without feeling guilty about being “unproductive”. It happens…

Christians in Korea

After spending some time in Korea, I started to wonder, why are there so many Christians in Korea, how did they get here, when, why. Yeah, I know this is a delicate subject and people usually get offended but get over it. I was very surprised when some people I’ve met, instead of asking me: “Do you have a religion?” or “what’s your religion?” they would ask: “Are you a Christian? Just assuming everyone’s Christian…
